Plans for a 100MW green hydrogen plant in the port of Rostock were presented by RWE and EnBW.
The facility will be a part of the “HyTech Hafen Rostock project,” which has submitted a financing request under the Important Project of Common European Interest program.
The Rostock EnergyPort Cooperation, a partnership of EnBW Neue Energien, RheinEnergie, RWE Generation, and Rostock Port, will design and construct the system.
The goal is to establish and grow a hydrogen production and distribution system that is environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Renewable energy sources, such as wind turbines on land and at sea, will be used to provide the necessary electricity.
A supra-regional distribution network will receive up to 6.5 tonnes of hydrogen and feed it to local users. The position makes it possible to develop the plant to produce up to 1GW.
