PepsiCo Australia will begin testing a hydrogen-powered heavy-duty vehicle at one of its manufacturing facilities in Brisbane in collaboration with Pure Hydrogen.
PepsiCo will receive a 160kW hydrogen fuel cell Prime Mover truck from Pure Hydrogen. Additionally, it will incorporate more hydrogen fuel and refueling as needed. Additionally, Pure Hydrogen will offer upkeep and repair services. This is a portion of the experiment that will last six months and start in the second half of 2023.
The trial’s goal is to show how Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles (HFCV) can be used on a large commercial basis. For the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, this will also be a first.
During the six-month trial period, Pure Hydrogen will get $98,400; after that, PepsiCo will have the opportunity to lease the truck from the business. If PepsiCo decides to lease the vehicle, it will be required to make payments of $10,554 a month for a period of seven years.
On the other side, Pure Hydrogen can lease the vehicle to another business if PepsiCo decides to return it at the end of the experiment.
