Before 2030, Redexis and Air Liquide will conduct an assessment of the potential for the construction and operation of up to 100 hydrogen refueling stations in Spain.
DESIRE H2 was the name given to the project by the two companies, which signed a collaboration agreement to work together on the project.
Spain’s logistics hubs, such as Madrid and Barcelona, would be the ideal locations for the stations, which would also be located on major transportation corridors connecting Spain to the rest of Europe.
Air Liquide’s unit for Spain and Portugal stated that the ultimate goal is to accelerate the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles in Spain and reduce the transportation sector’s carbon footprint.
The DESIRE H2 project proposal was submitted to the Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition and the EU’s IPCEI programme.
