A new state aid program has been introduced in Romania to encourage investments in the expansion of manufacturing facilities for electrolyzing hydrogen from solar, hydro, and wind energy.
The program, which is based on a competitive tendering process, is applicable to new green hydrogen production plants as well as capacity increases. The deadline for project applications is July 31. A corporation may get up to €50 million ($52.3 million) in state help for each investment project.
The Romanian Ministry of Energy stated that by Dec. 31, 2025, the implementation of projects that are eligible for funding under this aid program “aims to install green hydrogen production capacity of at least 100 MW in electrolysis plants, producing at least 10,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually from renewable sources.”
