Russian Hydrogen, a company owned by the Russian government, has been tasked with managing the federally owned shares of the Bashkir Soda Company (BSK) and implementing its investment and environmental programs.

This decision was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who signed a decree transferring 47% of the shares of BSK to Russian Hydrogen. The move is seen as an effort to develop the enterprise, create new jobs, and improve work efficiency, especially in the face of Western sanctions.

Andrei Nazarov, Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkiria, expressed his optimism regarding the move, saying that the transfer of shares would allow for the continuation of the investment program approved by the Board of Directors. Additionally, the environmental program will also be implemented as confirmed by the management of Russian Hydrogen.

The goal of this decision is to bolster the production of hydrogen in Russia and take advantage of the country’s vast natural gas reserves. Hydrogen is an alternative fuel that can be used in various industries, including transportation and power generation. As the world shifts towards clean energy, hydrogen is seen as a promising option for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change.

However, the move is not without controversy. Critics have raised concerns about the environmental impact of hydrogen production, as it requires large amounts of energy and emits greenhouse gases. There are also concerns about the safety of hydrogen storage and transportation, as it is highly flammable.

Despite these concerns, the potential benefits of hydrogen as a clean energy source cannot be ignored. The development of hydrogen production and use in Russia has the potential to reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels, create new job opportunities, and contribute to global efforts to mitigate climate change.
