Hydrogen-powered fuel cell buses and refueling systems for public transportation are being tested. This is the subject of a memorandum of agreement signed between the Sapio Group in Umbria, in conjunction with the Baccarelli Group, and Rampini Carlo, an Umbrian bus manufacturer.

The agreement intends to help and promote the growth of the industry by making available and supporting the Italian supply chain in operations aimed at the energy transition, particularly sustainable mobility, according to the partner firms in a letter.

With the signing of the memorandum, Sapio, the global leader in hydrogen production and supply for more than a century, will make its knowledge in production, transportation, distribution, and final uses accessible to create solutions that will allow hydrogen to position itself as a vector, the energy that is both sustainable and safe.

“What we can do now determines our country’s future,” said Alberto Dossi, President of the Sapio Group. “Rampini is a leader in the design and manufacture of electric and hydrogen vehicles, and we are pleased with this crucial partnership, which is just another indication of the commitment we aim to make accessible to help cut greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Sapio will offer its knowledge and experience in hydrogen manufacturing, engineering, and the building of hydrogen filling stations for various sorts of cars.”

“Looking to the future involves preserving the environment,” Rampini’s General Manager, Fabio Magnoni, remarked. Today, our firm creates and manufactures with this purpose in mind. We wish to enhance our expertise every day so that we can create items that are less and less harmful to the environment. Our electric buses with hydrogen range extenders are a practical option for tracing the coordinates of smart and environmentally friendly mobility. It will have a significant impact on future public transportation. Sapio has formed an all-Italian strategic partnership with us because of its proximity to the engineering and supply needs of hydrogen for all of our potential urban public transportation customers “.
