Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the minister of energy, met in Riyadh with a group from the foreign affairs committee of the European Parliament, chaired by David James McEllister.
The Kingdom’s efforts to manage hydrocarbon emissions and renewable energy sources were examined during the meeting as part of its attempt to lead the energy transition through local and regional programs, led by the Saudi Green initiative and the Middle East Green initiative.
The discussion also covered the Kingdom’s attempts to reduce emissions through the carbon circular economy approach of capturing, utilising, recycling, and storing carbon, in addition to its goal of being the greatest exporter of clean hydrogen in the world.
In this regard, the minister emphasized the necessity of collaboration between exporters from the Middle East and consumers in Europe to help promote and expand such initiatives.
The delegation received a briefing on the Kingdom’s initiatives to promote and support energy innovation in order to develop highly effective systems without prejudice or discrimination against any of its sources.
