In a move that underscores its commitment to clean energy and international cooperation, Saudi Arabia has approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China in the field of clean hydrogen energy. The announcement was made following a cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
According to the official Saudi news agency SPA, the cabinet approved several other MoUs between the two countries, including cooperation between the tax authorities and a proposed agreement between the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia and China in the field of agriculture.
In addition, the Energy Ministry of Saudi Arabia was authorized to negotiate the signing of an MoU with Turkey in the field of energy. This comes as the kingdom seeks to diversify its energy sources and strengthen its ties with other countries in the region.
During the meeting, the recent decision by Saudi Arabia and Iran to re-establish diplomatic relations after seven years was also discussed. The agreements related to the reopening of diplomatic missions between the two countries were welcomed by the cabinet, which stated that their implementation would increase mutual trust, expand the scope of cooperation, and contribute to the security, stability, and prosperity of the region.
