Seosan City, located in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea, is poised to transform into a thriving hub for future air mobility, driven by hydrogen energy.

A recent business agreement signed at the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office underscores the city’s commitment to fostering new industries, particularly in advanced aviation mobility based on green energy.

Seosan City, in collaboration with Chungcheongnam-do, aims to promote the hydrogen-based future aviation mobility (UAM/AAM) industry and green hydrogen industry. Key initiatives include fostering advanced air mobility, green hydrogen power generation, supplying hydrogen buses and charging stations, and implementing a regional coexistence plan to attract hydrogen-based industries.

Hyundai Motor Company’s involvement signifies a significant step towards realizing the vision of hydrogen-powered air mobility. The successful test flight demonstration of an inter-regional air mobility (RAM) aircraft using hydrogen energy in March 2022 marked a milestone achievement. This aircraft, certified for airworthiness and registered as Korea’s first hydrogen fuel cell aircraft, showcases the potential of hydrogen technology in revolutionizing air transportation.
