The United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazroui and Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic decided to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi regarding the development of hydrogen as a new energy source and the continuation of their cooperation in the area of renewable energy sources, according to the Mining and Energy Ministry.
According to the authority’s assessments, Serbia and the UAE’s energy cooperation is progressing and the next stage in enhancing collaboration is the sharing of experience, professional expertise, and technological know-how regarding the use of hydrogen as an energy source.
Djedovic emphasized that the UAE is a potential partner in the development of green and blue hydrogen as a new energy source for Serbia’s energy system because it has the knowledge, developed technology, and firms that are already active in the RES field in Serbia.
According to the Minister, utilizing RES potential is a crucial tool for enhancing Serbia’s energy security and for reaching the goal of climate neutrality, which is one of the major challenges facing the world today.
She stated that the Cibuk 1 wind farm, which generates green energy capable of powering 113,000 households, and the anticipated construction of Cibuk 2, which is set to begin this year, are the most notable outcomes of Serbia and the UAE’s cooperation to date.
According to Minister Suhail Mohammed Faraj Al Mazroui, the UAE and Serbian presidents’ genuine friendship is the foundation of the two nations’ relations.
He briefed Minister Djedovic on his nation’s future energy infrastructure development plans as well as the UAE’s nuclear and renewable energy sources.
