The SoHyCal hydrogen production facility in Fresno owned by Spanish hydrogen manufacturer H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies is expected to start operating in the first quarter of 2023.
The major equipment for the first phase is slated to be finished in the first half of this month, according to a tweet from H2B2 in November.
According to Fresno County planning documents, it is situated on a 324-acre lot near Whitesbridge Avenue and South James Road, roughly 7 miles east of Mendota. Bar 20 Dairy, LLC is the home’s owner.
The development of the green hydrogen plant in Fresno was given a nearly $4 million grant by the California Energy Commission to H2B2 in 2019.
The plant’s 3-megawatt initial phase will mark the first vertically integrated green hydrogen plant powered by H2B2 that produces electricity from photovoltaics and then transports and dispenses green hydrogen at the charging station.
This week, it was disclosed that Florida-based RMG Acquisition Corporation III and H2B2 have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for a potential business merger. RMG Acquisition Corporation III is a publicly traded, special-purpose acquisition company.
The shareholders of H2B2 will continue to own 100% of the equity in the combined public company in accordance with the terms of the LOI.
As soon as a final agreement has been reached, which is anticipated by the end of Q1 this year, the companies will divulge further information regarding the corporate combination.
Anselmo Andrade Fernandez de Mesa has been chosen to succeed Felipe Benjumea Llorente, the creator of H2B2, as CEO as part of the transition.
