Sonnedix, the global independent solar power producer (IPP), has boosted its operating capacity in Italy by 8.2 MW through the acquisition of two portfolios: a portfolio of 6 operating plants with a combined capacity of 5.2 MW was acquired from Silver Ridge Italia (Amaranto Group), and a portfolio of 3 operating plants with a combined capacity of 3 MW was acquired from Melfin (Melchioni Group).
The operating plants benefit from the feed in tariff granted under the Italian Conto Energia Scheme.
The 5.2 MW portfolio is comprised of 2 PV plants built on top of shelters in a parking lot and 4 roof-top mounted PV plants, while the 3 MW portfolio is comprised of 3 ground-mounted PV plants, all operating since 2011/ 2012, located in central and southern Italy.
“These acquisitions contribute to Sonnedix’s growth in Italy and take us further towards our goal to build a bright future. The first half of 2020 has brought many challenges, and we are very proud of our purpose-driven team who remains focused on our role in pushing the energy transition forward, and our long-term commitment to provide a reliable supply of clean electricity to our communities.”
Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix.
Sonnedix started operations in Italy in 2009, focusing on developing, building, owning and operating solar PV plants for the long term. Today, the company has reached a capacity of 242.2 MWp in the country, positioning itself as a leading player in the Italian solar PV generation sector.
Sonnedix was advised by Duff&Phelps REAG (Technical) and RSM Studio Palea Lauri Gerla (Financial and Tax) on both transactions. Legal advice was given by: Norton Rose Fullbright, for the acquisition of the 5.2MWp portfolio from Silver Ridge Italia; and Raffaelli Segreti, for the acquisition of the 3 MWp portfolio from Melchioni Group.
