By 2030, DISA Group and Enagás plan to build about 30 hydrogen fueling stations for fuel cell vehicles in the Canary Islands, Spain.
The project is the result of a partnership between the two organizations to encourage green hydrogen processing, distribution, and commercialization in the archipelago through the ‘Clster Hub Hidrógeno Renovable Canarias’ initiative.
According to a press release, the first six hydrogen stations will open in the first phase of the project’s implementation.
The ‘Clster Hub Hidrógeno Renovable Canarias’ brings together approximately twenty public and private institutions dedicated to incorporating hydrogen solutions for the decarbonization of the Canary Islands’ energy mix. The project would entail a first-phase investment of 100 million euros, with the potential to grow to 1,000 million euros by 2030.
The project envisions the manufacture of green hydrogen at two plants on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, in addition to the delivery of hydrogen fueling stations. According to DISA, the infrastructure designed for this first phase would be able to generate around 1,000 tons of green hydrogen per year.
