Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL) subsidiary TCPL GES has joined hands with the Government of Jharkhand to pioneer a manufacturing plant for low-to-zero-emission mobility solutions. This collaboration underscores the convergence of innovation, environmental stewardship, and economic advancement.

With an investment exceeding Rs. 350 Crores, this venture heralds a new era of clean energy technologies that promise to reshape India’s automotive landscape.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TCPL GES and the Government of Jharkhand stands as a testament to their shared dedication to combat climate change and usher in a low-carbon economy. This strategic alliance envisions not just a manufacturing plant but a nucleus of innovation that will birth advanced, environmentally friendly technologies for the mobility sector. By embracing this initiative, Jharkhand affirms its role as a vanguard of sustainable transformation.

The core of this initiative is the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant with a mission to develop fuel-agnostic powertrain solutions. These encompass groundbreaking technologies like Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engines, Battery Electric Vehicle Systems, Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Systems, and Fuel Delivery Systems. The blueprint envisions these innovations not merely as technological achievements but as stepping stones toward India’s self-reliance and global leadership in green mobility solutions.

The Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine, a practical solution for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, epitomizes near-zero-carbon emissions potential. Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology, a beacon of zero-emissions power solutions, emerges as the technology of the future. Battery-electric technology, underpinned by Cummins Inc.’s extensive experience, takes center stage as the game-changer for electric mobility. The inclusion of Fuel Delivery Systems augments the adoption of hydrogen-powered technologies, propelling India’s transition towards sustainable commercial markets.

This visionary initiative is poised to be a catalyst for holistic development. The projected direct employment opportunities for over 300 skilled youth resonate with the twin goals of economic progress and social empowerment. This endeavor is set to create a robust supply ecosystem, amplifying the value chain across the spectrum of clean energy technologies.

Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren affirms Jharkhand’s commitment to India’s net-zero target for 2070 and positions the state as a hub for technological advancements. This venture provides a platform for Jharkhand’s youth to contribute to a cutting-edge industry and usher in socio-economic development while embracing clean energy solutions.

Tata Motors, with a legacy of innovations and nation-building, commemorates another monumental milestone. The alignment with Jharkhand’s vision heralds a transformative phase towards emission-free mobility. This manufacturing facility, set to roll out hydrogen-based powertrains and battery electric vehicle systems, reinforces Tata Motors’ dedication to pioneering sustainable mobility solutions.

Cummins Group in India, armed with over 30 years of manufacturing experience, lauds Jharkhand’s leadership in steering India’s emission-free journey. The MoU resonates deeply with Cummins’ Destination Zero strategy, marking a momentous stride towards a zero-emission future. This collaboration underscores the shared vision of emission reduction and environmental betterment.
