IRS to present hydrogen tax credit guidance
By the middle of August, the IRS is anticipated to release advice on the types of hydrogen projects that will be eligible for tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act. The outcomes might have a substantial impact on the sector’s development and its capacity to decarbonize difficult-to-abate industries. According to Shannon Angielski of the Clean Hydrogen Future Coalition, the objective should be to “get this clean hydrogen industry launched with very pragmatic rules of the road so that it can scale.”
Posifa Technologies unveils hydrogen sensors for BMS thermal runaway detection
A novel sensor solution for battery management systems (BMS) thermal runaway detection has been made available by Posifa Technologies today. The new PGS4100 hydrogen sensors, which are based on the company’s MEMS hydrogen sensor technology, accurately measure the change in thermal conductivity of the gas mixture inside BMS compartments. This technique helps electric vehicles (EVs) to comply with safety regulations by triggering battery failure alerts more quickly.
A relative humidity sensor and a barometric pressure sensor are built into the PGS4100 series. The accuracy of hydrogen concentration measurement is increased by the sensor’s ability to counterbalance thermal conductivity fluctuations brought on by changes in elevation and air humidity. The PGS4100 can detect combustible gases with enough accuracy to fulfill industry standards.
The PGS4100 utilizes a pulsed waveform and is built on a second-generation thermal conductivity die from Posifa. It is packed in an SMD form size. This method of design guarantees that the sensor’s heater temperature nearly matches the surrounding air temperature, hence guaranteeing inherent safety.
Saudi ministers visit liquefied hydrogen carrier in Jeddah
Visiting the first liquefied hydrogen carrier ship in the world at Jeddah Islamic Port with the Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and the Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the ministers received a briefing on the cutting-edge technologies that Japanese company Kawasaki Heavy Industries used to construct the carrier Suiso Frontier.
As part of its intentions to take the lead globally in the production and export of clean hydrogen, Saudi Arabia has concentrated on producing hydrogen.
Annkang Water Lab showcases hydrogen-rich water dispensers at Mitraf 27
At its exhibit in Permaisuri Imperial City Mall during the five-day Miri Trade Fair 27 (Mitraf 27), Annkang Water Lab (EM) Sdn Bhd is introducing its hydrogen-rich water dispensers.
Normal water that has dissolved hydrogen gas is known as hydrogen water, hydrogen-rich water, or hydrogen-enriched water.
Inhaled hydrogen gas has been shown to work as an antioxidant and shield the brain from free radical damage, according to a 2007 study by a Japanese scientific research team. This aroused an international interest in its possible health advantages and produced some ground-breaking research.
ATOME Energy securing extra power for important project
In addition to increasing the power available for its Viletta project, ATOME Energy reported that the government-run energy provider ANDE of Paraguay has also agreed to a pre-power purchase agreement (PPA) study on a larger project in Yguazu.
According to ATOME, the existing PPA at Viletta has been enlarged from 120Mw to 145Mw, making it the country’s largest power provider agreement for industrial usage. Viletta will receive electricity from the close-by Buey Rodeo substation.
With a final investment decision on phase 1 of the project anticipated in the fourth quarter of this year, ATOME recently shifted its focus at Viletta from hydrogen to green fertilizer. ATOME further stated that Viletta had been approved as a tax fee zone pending the conclusion of environmental investigations and that it had received “multiple expressions of interest” for offtake agreements.
Universiade encourages use of hydrogen-powered cars
After a successful test drive for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, China will push hydrogen-fueled vehicles at the Sichuan Universiade.
The 31st International University Sports Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games in Chengdu, Sichuan, will use 80 hydrogen-powered buses for athletes and staff to commute.
Since 2017, Chengdu has safely driven 20 million km as a western China hydrogen-powered vehicle pilot city. Chengdu’s fleet uses Dongfang Electric Corporation’s hydrogen fuel-cells.
The hydrogen-powered bus can drive 450 km on one charge and consumes 4 kilogram of hydrogen per 100 km. 710 hydrogen-powered vehicles were used for demonstration reasons in Zhangjiakou, Beijing’s co-host city, for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
