First green hydrogen created by Sasol from Sasolburg electrolyser in June
During the commissioning stage of a project to repurpose a functioning electrolyser to use renewable electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, Sasol announces that it created its first green hydrogen in Sasolburg in June.
For the pilot Free State project, which is anticipated to produce up to 5 t of green hydrogen everyday, Sasol has set aside R350 million.
However, steady production won’t start until the plant starts receiving power from the 69 MW Msenge Emoyeni Wind Farm in the Eastern Cape in early 2024.
Apollo acquires CATEC
Apollo has purchased a controlling stake in Composite Advanced Technologies (CATEC), a US-based supplier of transportation and storage solutions for compressed natural gas (CNG), renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydrogen.
The goods and services offered by CATEC assist their clients in switching from carbon-intensive fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly fuels.
CATEC, a Houston-based company founded in 2014, produces large format Type IV cylinders that, either placed on mobile trailers or utilized in fixed applications, make it easier to utilise natural gas and hydrogen in a range of industry applications.
