TotalEnergies has acquired a substantial renewable energy pipeline from Low Carbon. This strategic expansion involves eight solar projects amounting to 350 megawatts (MW) and two battery storage facilities with a total capacity of 85 MW.

These projects, located in the south of England, are poised to significantly bolster TotalEnergies’ existing renewable portfolio in the region. The solar innovations, already at an advanced stage of development, are projected to be operational by 2028, contributing over 350 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, a figure that aligns with the electricity consumption of approximately 100,000 households in the United Kingdom.

The broader context of this acquisition reflects TotalEnergies’ concerted efforts to enhance its footprint in renewable energy. The company’s current Integrated Electricity portfolio features a diverse mix, including 1.1 gigawatts (GW) of gross installed offshore wind, a substantial 1.3 GW derived from gross combined cycle gas turbines, and ongoing developments in solar energy exceeding 600 MW. This strategic maneuver underscores the company’s dedication to an integrated and diversified energy supply chain, particularly focusing on sustainable resources amid escalating global climate commitments and energy transitions.

TotalEnergies positions itself strategically within the UK renewable landscape by combining solar and storage capabilities. The 85 MW of battery storage complements their solar capacity, ensuring grid stability and managing intermittency—key challenges faced with increasing renewable integration.
