Trafigura’s H2 Energy Europe, a company focused on developing large-scale green hydrogen ecosystems, and German Transmission System Operator Ontras signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance industrial hydrogen infrastructure for industrial customers.
The collaboration aims to find methods for transporting green hydrogen from H2 Energy Europe’s planned 1GW production facility in Esbjerg, Denmark. The green hydrogen will be transported via the proposed German Hydrogen Core Network and Ontras’ Green Octopus Mitteldeutschland pipeline project to various industrial regions in Germany, including Salzgitter, Berlin, Eisenhüttenstadt, Magdeburg, and Leipzig-Halle.
In October 2023, Trafigura became the majority owner of H2 Energy Europe. This partnership signals a significant step towards enhancing the green hydrogen supply chain for industrial use in Germany.
