Engie invests in Magnotherm’s magnetic cooling hydrogen liquefier prototype

Magnotherm, a German startup based in Darmstadt, will get funding for its magnetic cooling hydrogen liquefier prototype from the Engie investment fund.

Engie New Ventures has committed a total of 500,000 euros to help the firm. An amount that will hasten the system’s design, which Magnotherm and its collaborators are working on as part of the HyLICAL project. This project, which has 5 million euros in funding from the European Union, intends to construct a pilot plant that will show that using the magnetocaloric effect to liquefy hydrogen is feasible in less than two years.
