Turkey is forging a renewed alliance with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore groundbreaking ventures in offshore wind energy and hydrogen production.
These developments are rooted in the energy cooperation agreements signed in July, worth an impressive $29.7 billion, following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the UAE.
Turkey is committed to revamping its energy sector, with ambitious goals of generating 3.5 gigawatts of solar energy and 1.5 gigawatts of wind energy annually. The country is striving to diversify its energy mix and embrace cleaner sources of power.
The discussions between Ankara and Abu Dhabi signal a strong interest from Emirati companies in Turkey’s energy transformation endeavors. Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar revealed that one of the key projects on the table is the production of hydrogen, primarily sourced from wind energy.
