The U.S. has launched the Gold Hydrogen program to extract natural hydrogen, which is found underground.

It was previously inaccessible, but new innovative methods have already been developed to obtain this resource.

The Gold Hydrogen program involves the Houston Future Center, as well as global players in the U.S. hydrogen industry like Cemvita Factory, Chart Industries and EXP.

Able to revitalize thousands of depleted, abandoned oil and gas fields across the U.S., the innovative hydrogen production methods combine existing infrastructure with advanced microbiology.

“The Gold Hydrogen program provides a unique opportunity to transition to a clean hydrogen economy. Ambitious measures to combat climate change are dramatically increasing the demand for new energy, and companies that mine or produce hydrogen could be the leaders of the economy of the future,” said Cemvita Factory CEO Moji Karimi.

“Cemvita Factory’s work to build an alliance to commercialize the Gold Hydrogen program shows how companies from our region can lead the way in low-carbon energy innovation,” said Houston Future Center CEO Brett Perlman, in turn.
