Ambassador Said Sani al-Zahiri, the UAE’s envoy to Ankara, recently affirmed that both nations are actively engaged in discussions concerning clean energy and hydrogen. The outcomes of these discussions are expected to be realized in the near future, signaling a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions.
This development comes in the wake of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to the UAE as part of a diplomatic tour of Gulf countries. During this visit, Turkey and the UAE inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focusing on natural resources, setting the stage for deeper collaboration.
At the heart of this collaboration lies a shared commitment to clean energy, energy technologies, and hydrogen-related projects. Ambassador al-Zahiri emphasized that the ongoing efforts encompass a wide range of areas, including storage, pipelines, and various types of hydrogen projects, as well as broader clean energy initiatives.
In highlighting Turkey’s significance as an energy player in the region, Ambassador al-Zahiri underscored the existing projects between Turkey and the UAE. Furthermore, he expressed the UAE’s readiness to share its considerable expertise in the energy sector with Turkey. The focus remains on clean energy and hydrogen, areas with immense potential for mutual growth and cooperation.
The invitation was extended to Turkish investors to explore opportunities in the UAE, reflecting the two nations’ aspirations for a successful energy partnership. Simultaneously, investors from the UAE were encouraged to consider investments in Turkey, underlining the commitment to strengthening economic ties.
The UAE itself is undergoing a transformation in its energy landscape, aiming to reduce its reliance on traditional oil-based resources. The nation is increasingly embracing renewable energy sources, exemplified by its impressive solar power infrastructure. Ambassador al-Zahiri noted that the UAE is also committed to renewable energy and nuclear energy as part of its strategy to transition away from conventional energy sources.
