The UK’s leading hydrogen association will meet with lawmakers in September to discuss how best to get the country to net zero emissions.
The rally, dubbed “Seizing the UK’s Hydrogen Opportunity,” will bring together businesses and organizations from the energy, transport, and industrial sectors with members of parliament and representatives from the UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association in an effort to lobby the government on three key priorities for the hydrogen economy.
Among these include quickening the pace of hydrogen storage research and development, crafting a workable transportation strategy, and establishing trustworthy industry guidelines, standards, and regulations.
The UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association is advocating for a government-led strategy for hydrogen transport that takes into account infrastructure, vehicles, and the full spectrum of hydrogen-carrying energy vectors, with a focus on the key role hydrogen plays in transportation modes like trucks, trains, ships, and airplanes. To date, hydrogen transportation has relied on a hodgepodge of grants and policy levers that lack a coherent plan to link and advance all components of a hydrogen transportation network over the long term.
The creative SMEs to the pure play technology businesses and huge enterprises that make up the UK HFCA collectively represent the whole hydrogen energy supply chain and its applications. They’re collaborating closely with their representatives in order to push for government backing on the three discussion priorities.
More than 500 people attended the conference, where a new executive team was introduced. This team brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the HFCA.
