Ulsan City is gaining attention as it explores possibilities for collaboration with global energy corporation ADNOC in the United Arab Emirates on carbon-neutral sectors such as hydrogen and ammonia.

Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, who is traveling to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a foreign group, held a meeting at the state-owned energy business ADNOC’s headquarters titled “Ulsan City-ADNOC, Hydrogen and Ammonia Industry Joint Cooperation Meeting,” according to Ulsan City.

Mayor Kim discussed the necessity for a collaborative initiative at this conference in relation to the low-carbon solution industry that can efficiently transport and store hydrogen. A $30 billion investment agreement drafted by President Yoon Seok-yeol, who visited the UAE in January, is related to the promotion of this cooperation initiative.

Around Ulsan New Port, Ulsan is developing world-class infrastructure capable of storing, transporting, and using hydrogen. ADNOC is a carbon-neutral company with a sizable hydrogen production base.

In the partnership project, hydrogen produced by ADNOC in ammonia will be supplied to clients after being stored in the Ulsan New Port facility, a major energy center. Ulsan City finds businesses that use hydrogen after the project is finished, and it offers administrative and financial incentives to ADNOC.
