OCP Group, Shell, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) have agreed to collaborate on a pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of large-scale production of low-carbon ammonia using hydrogen generated from renewable energy.

The pilot project will include a small facility that creates hydrogen to produce ammonia, simulating renewable energy as a power source, with the goal of scaling up using hydrogen produced from renewable energy instead of oil and gas sources for ammonia production.

The pilot project will take place in Morocco’s Jorf Lasfar industrial area.
