E-Connection has ordered 11 turbines totaling 46 MW from Vestas for the first phase of the Oosterscheldekering wind optimization project, which consists of the four wind parks Binnenhaven, Roggeplaat-West, Noordland Buiten and Vluchthaven.
Located directly on the coastline on a storm surge barrier in the province of Zeeland in the southwest of the Netherlands, Vestas has developed a wind energy solution suited to the high wind conditions of the sites, with average wind speeds of over 9 m/s at hub height.
The project is a combination of new turbines and turbines that replace older turbine types and includes a total of nine V136-4.2 MW turbines and two V117-4.2 MW turbines with site-specific towers, combined with a 15-year Active Production Management (AOM 4000) service contract to maximize annual energy generation and provide competitive energy costs.
The existing five V90-3.0 MW turbines will be replaced by five V136-4.2 MW turbines at Noordland Buiten and Vluchthaven wind parks, which will greatly increase the annual energy output of the sites thanks to more powerful turbines. The Binnenhaven and Roggeplaat-West wind parks will feature four V136-4.2 MW turbines and two V117-4.2 MW turbines respectively.
