Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE) spinout, WAE Technologies, has pulled the curtains off the EVRh—an awe-inspiring hydrogen fuel cell powered supercar that boasts a staggering claimed range of 600 kilometers.
Built upon WAE’s already impressive EVR electric platform, which made its debut in 2022, the EVRh harbors at its core a liquid-cooled fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) battery pack. With a maximum power output of 430kW seamlessly blending with the 120kW hydrogen fuel cell, the EVRh roars to life with a total output of 550kW. This formidable power, combined with a remarkably light curb weight of under 1900 kilograms, catapults the EVRh from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in a jaw-dropping under 2.5 seconds, setting the stage for an estimated lap time at the Nürburgring circuit of approximately 7 minutes and 20 seconds.
The EVRh’s engineering brilliance extends beyond its powertrain. The vehicle is ingeniously designed around a central tub that offers the flexibility for various configurations, ranging from track-focused beasts to open-top exhilaration and GT-style road setups. The battery system occupies the central position within the vehicle, alongside the H2 fuel tank, optimizing the center of gravity and enhancing stability. The all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive layouts are effortlessly supported through a diverse array of e-motor configurations.
Grand Debut at CENEX LCV Show
The world got its first glimpse of this automotive marvel at the 2023 CENEX Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) Show, held at the prestigious Millbrook Proving Ground from September 6 to 7. The event showcased the EVRh’s impressive capabilities and marked a pivotal moment in the journey towards zero-carbon transportation.
WAE’s EVRh is not just a supercar; it’s a transformational force. It offers myriad benefits to manufacturers, including an expedited route to market. WAE will handle all engineering and assembly processes in Oxford, ensuring a swift and cost-effective journey from concept to reality. Furthermore, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers can seamlessly integrate new products into the powertrain using the EVRh platform, as the rolling chassis is primed for upgrades with WAE’s latest motor and battery technologies.
The EVRh symbolizes the convergence of speed, sustainability, and innovation. As the automotive world witnesses this hydrogen-powered supercar’s prowess, it’s evident that the road to a more eco-conscious future is paved with groundbreaking engineering marvels like the EVRh.
