Woodside and SK E&S will embark on a joint exploration of opportunities related to long-term ammonia and hydrogen offtake arrangements.
Additionally, they will consider equity participation in ammonia and hydrogen production projects and explore project engineering supply opportunities. The collaboration is designed to leverage the strengths of both entities and foster advancements in the emerging field of green hydrogen.
Woodside emphasized that the collaboration would take into account the existing and proposed government policies of South Korea and Australia that could play a pivotal role in facilitating the development of a lower-carbon hydrogen value chain. This strategic alignment aims to ensure that the collaborative efforts adhere to and complement the broader energy policies of both nations.
This collaboration follows Woodside’s non-binding heads of agreement (HoA) signed in April 2023 with Keppel Data Centres, the data center arm of Keppel Corporation. The earlier agreement aimed to evaluate the potential supply of liquid hydrogen from Woodside’s production facilities to Singapore, paving the way for the exploration of key hydrogen supply chain agreements.
As Woodside and SK E&S forge ahead in their pursuit of a lower-carbon hydrogen value chain, the collaboration holds the promise of transforming the energy landscape in the Asia-Pacific region, ushering in a new era of sustainability and decarbonization.
