Vestas receives largest EnVentus order to date

Vestas has received the biggest EnVentus order in Germany to date, at the 39 MW Wohlsdorf initiative in Rotenburg, Lower Saxony.

Vestas will provide seven V150-5.6 MW turbines for the plant, which will be situated between Bremen and Hamburg.

Windpark Wohlsdorf, a special purpose company owned by Reon and CapCerta, is developing the Wohlsdorf concept. The project was won as part of the most recent onshore wind auction rounds held by the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA).

The Wohlsdorf V150 EnVentus turbines will have a tip height of 244 meters and will be serviced and operated by Vestas under a long-term 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service arrangement.

“The Wohlsdorf project is an excellent example of how local developers, local stakeholders, and authorities can come together with a common interest to develop a wind energy project which benefits both the local community and the environment. This is an exciting project for Vestas, not only due to its size as a large project in Northern Germany. We are pleased to be partnering with Reon and CapCerta for the first time, and their selection of V150 EnVentus technology for the Wohlsdorf project further highlights the relevance and industry-leading performance of the EnVentus platform in Germany.”

Jens Kück, Director Sales Germany North at Vestas Northern & Central Europe.

Vestas’ EnVentus platform has also secured orders in Sweden and Ukraine in the first quarter of 2021, proving the regional applicability of the advanced modular design approach applied in the platform. With this project, Vestas has secured an order intake of more than 2.3 GW across three continents for the EnVentus platform.

“After almost eight years of project development, we are pleased to have reached this important milestone in the Wohlsdorf project. With the V150 EnVentus turbines, we are able to make a significant contribution to climate protection. With this venture we also pave the way to ‘power to x’ development in this region. We would like to thank all stakeholders for the great cooperation so far and especially would like to thank our team for their strong commitment.”

Tom Becker, CEO at Reon

“We are very thrilled that after having signed the first lease contract with a local farmer back in November 2013, that seven and a half years later we have overcome all regulatory, technical and logistical obstacles and are ready to built one of the most powerful onshore wind projects in Germany. Today we are able to lease around 100ha of land from more than 30 landowners. In addition, we are especially proud that our project enhances the value of the region around Rotenburg (Wümme) and contributes financially and environmentally to the community”.

Torsten Klemm, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at CapCerta

The Wohlsdorf project will see the first turbines delivered and installed in the second quarter of 2022.
