Ukraine will be able to become completely self-sufficient in its energy needs thanks to the development of hydrogen energy.
Ukrinform quotes President Volodymyr Zelensky as saying this during a plenary meeting of the Eastern Partnership summit on December 15 in Brussels.
According to Zelensky, three of the Eastern Partnership summit’s flagship initiatives are of particular importance to Ukraine.
Checkpoints and border infrastructure are the first thing to be modernized in this plan. Ukraine will greatly benefit from the EU’s assistance in this matter. Zelensky emphasized the significance of reaching an agreement on road transport liberalization in this context.
Second, says the head of state, is about digital transformation and IT infrastructure. Ukraine has become one of the world’s most digitally advanced countries thanks to its public services portal, Diia. As we progress, we’ll see the launch of Diia City, the most powerful IT hub in Eastern Europe, and numerous innovative projects. The elimination of roaming charges between the EU and its international partners would be a practical outcome of this path.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine’s energy security and energy efficiency are the focus of the country’s third initiative. Next year, Ukraine will begin a large-scale thermal modernization project, according to Zelensky. Hydrogen energy is also a key component in achieving full energy independence and climate neutrality in the country, he said.
Ukraine relies on EU and international financial institutions for support in all these projects, he said.
