Hydrogen production will be set up at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, Deputy Director General of the enterprise’s modernization project Emil Alhasli told Trend.
Hydrogen production equipment will be installed as part of a project to modernize and reconstruct the Baku Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery.
“The hydrogen production equipment can be put into operation as early as the second half of 2022. Also, units for production of EURO-5 standard diesel fuel will be commissioned,” Alkhasli said.
The modernization of the refinery is carried out in order to increase the production capacity of the plant, ensure the supply of Euro-5 standard fuel in the country, minimize the impact on the environment, ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials to production association Azerikimya and increase the export potential of petroleum products.
According to SOCAR, an operational efficiency and sustainability program is being implemented at the enterprise. The scope of work on overhaul of the Baku refinery for 2022 has been determined, and a comprehensive plan of activities has been developed. More than 2,000 people from SOCAR and other organizations will be involved in the work.
Recall that the refinery was shut down for overhaul on April 4, 2022.
