Bakken Energy and Cummins and Schneider National Carriers signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the design of the Heartland Hydrogen Hub to fulfill the demands of long-haul transportation.
A regional clean hydrogen hub just announced by North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, the Heartland Hydrogen Hub is being designed by Bakken Energy in collaboration with the States of North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Montana. The Department of Energy’s $7 billion Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs program, which is a component of the broader $8 billion hydrogen hub program funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is well-positioned to provide money to the Heartland Hydrogen Hub.
Bakken Energy will produce affordable, clean hydrogen on a huge scale as part of the industry-led Hub. In order to efficiently transport clean hydrogen at a low cost and hasten the decarbonization of long-haul trucking, Bakken Energy has been collaborating with industry titans in long-haul trucking. The partnership with Cummins and Schneider resulted from the same vision.
Scale is made available by long-distance trucking, accelerating the adoption of clean hydrogen and lowering CO2 emissions. The CO2 emissions of 31 gasoline-powered passenger cars are eliminated when one diesel-powered Class 8 heavy duty truck is converted to clean hydrogen fuel.
