Federal financing is being used to support a German-Brazilian partnership that produces hydrogen from manure with the help of the energy technology firm Mele from Torgelow.
The project volume totals 2.3 million euros, according to the Schwerin State Chancellery. A business delegation led by Head of State Chancellery Patrick Dahlemann (SPD) is now in Brazil.
The project, which involves two agricultural cooperatives in the Brazilian state of Paraná, intends to create environmentally friendly hydrogen compounds from pig excrement.
The “H2Uppp” funding initiative is managed by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), which views the project as an excellent illustration of attempts to develop fossil fuel alternatives.
