Costa Rican Grupo Purdy proposes green hydrogen-based ammonia plant

Grupo Purdy, a corporate conglomerate in Costa Rica, has proposed building a green hydrogen-based ammonia plant to make fertilizer.

The concept was presented to the environmental committee of the legislative assembly by group president Javier Quirós Ramos de Anaya.

Atome Energy, Mesoamerica, and Ad-Astra Rocket are among the green hydrogen partners that Cavendish, Purdy’s subsidiary for renewable energy, has formed.

According to the assembly, Quirós informed lawmakers that a deal with the state electricity company ICE must be reached before the project can begin.

Liebherr showcases hydrogen direct injection engines at Conexpo 2023

Liebherr will present a hydrogen direct injection option for powerful combustion engines at Conexpo 2023.

This technology attempts to produce a maximum power density that is comparable to that of a traditional internal combustion engine. A significant component of Liebherr’s technology-open strategy for alternative powertrain technologies is hydrogen-based powertrains.

The system must be able to guarantee high flow rates if the goal is to make an H2-DI engine run similarly to a diesel engine. The injector must have a high flow design since hydrogen gas has a low density. The system pressure must be precisely controlled in order to permit exact management of even the tiniest quantities. This is accomplished with the H2 injection system from Liebherr by using a gas volume control valve. Also, it’s crucial to confirm that the injector is gas-tight and leak-free.

Nikola to bring hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to Canada

The CEO of Nikola, Lohscheller, believes that the Canadian market is among the most promising in the entire world.

At the end of the year, Nikola hopes to get its cars on Canadian roads. In addition to partnering with TC Energy from that province to start installing fuelling stations for its hydrogen fuel trucks, hNikola has already started demonstrating its technology in the Canadian province of Alberta as part of a collaboration with the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA).

Nikola has plans to build recharging facilities for these zero-emission vehicles in addition to shipping the hydrogen fuel cell trucks to Canada.

Chart and ZEV Station ink MoU for hydrogen equipment for multimodal stations

A Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) between Chart Industries and ZEV Stations was signed, allowing the two businesses to work together on an innovative deployment for US-based, multimodal hydrogen stations using Chart equipment.

The firms’ joint objective is to combine various standards of gaseous and liquid hydrogen vehicle fuelling using high flow and efficiency liquid pumping to provide fast-fuel multiple modes for heavy-duty transportation at the same station.

To support ZEV Station’s multimodal hydrogen stations, Chart will provide liquid hydrogen fuel station equipment and hydrogen liquefaction. With the use of liquid-based equipment from Chart that allows fill rates of at least 8 kg per minute, this kind of station will provide hydrogen fuel for vehicles up to Class 8 heavy-duty trucks.

Kolon Industries targets hydrogen market

By exhibiting hydrogen fuel cell core parts and materials at the premier renewable energy platform, Kolon Industries, a leading manufacturer of chemical materials and textiles in South Korea, aggressively targets the worldwide automobile/power generation market.

At “World Smart Energy Week 2023” in Tokyo from March 15–17, the business will display their membrane humidifier, Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM), Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA), and an item made of membrane material called “Vent”.

Since 1989, when Kolon Industries initially began conducting research on membranes, the company has accumulated specialized technologies in the water treatment industry. With this knowledge of membranes, it subsequently advanced to fuel cell research and development in 2006 and, in 2012, became the first Korean business to make membrane humidifiers in large quantities. Since then, it has been supplying them to Hyundai Motor Company, and it now wants to broaden the scope of its use beyond transportation to include industrial and power generating.

Hydra Energy gets approval for $62M hydrogen production plant in Prince George

After a decision by city council, Hydra Energy’s $62 million hydrogen production plant and fueling station in Prince George is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The first three readings of bylaws to modify the Official Community Plan and rezone Hydra Energy’s proposed site at 9048 Sintich Road, which is situated at the junction of Sintich Road and Northern Crescent, were accepted by city council after a public hearing. A later meeting will evaluate the final approval.

Originally, Hydra Energy planned to erect a hydrogen fueling station there while producing the combustible gas elsewhere.

Less traffic will result from on-site hydrogen production, but Hydra Energy will construct a deceleration lane on Sintich Road if it turns out that it is necessary. Operators of modified transport trucks will buy the majority of the hydrogen produced on site.
