Two hydrogen power stations run by China Southern Electricity Grid were connected to the grid on Saturday, marking the first time solid hydrogen has been used to generate energy in China.
Seven cutting-edge solid hydrogen storage facilities can be found in one of the stations, Nansha Smart Hydrogen Station, which is situated in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, in southern China.
Solid hydrogen storage, a type of chemical storage for power generated by photovoltaic, wind, or other new energy sources, is very effective and simple to use. Fuel cells can later release the energy as needed and use it to generate power.
The second hydrogen power plant is situated in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, southwest China, and it has 165 kilos of hydrogen energy stored previously. During peak hours, the hydrogen storage can produce 2,300 kilowatt-hours of electricity and continue to do so for 23 hours.
