The Global Green Hydrogen Forum commenced today in Bariloche, Argentina, with high expectations surrounding the regulatory law and the potential of green hydrogen as the “fuel of the future.”

The event brings together international experts, scientists, business leaders, and government officials to discuss the current state, global advancements, investment opportunities, and the transformative impact of this renewable energy source. With notable participants from around the world, the forum aims to shed light on the immense potential of green hydrogen and its role in shaping a sustainable future.

Governor Arabela Carreras of Río Negro highlighted the region’s favorable conditions for green hydrogen development, including abundant wind resources, access to seawater for hydrogen production, vast territories, and Patagonian ports for export. She emphasized the unique opportunities these elements present, positioning Río Negro as an ideal hub for green hydrogen initiatives in Latin America.

The presence of Australian company Fortescue at the forum added anticipation and pressure, as the company has linked its investments in Río Negro to the enactment of national legislation promised by Minister of Economy Sergio Massa. Fortescue stressed the importance of regulatory norms that support financing at competitive international costs, foreign currency availability, favorable tax and fiscal regimes, and a harmonious coexistence between hydrogen promotion laws and the expansion of the national electrical system.

The Global Green Hydrogen Forum spans two days and features over 40 exhibitors, including experts, scientists, businessmen, officials, and ambassadors from various countries. Attendees from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Netherlands, Israel, Germany, and many others are set to participate. Distinguished international companies such as Siemens, Pan American Energy, and Y-Tec will be present, along with renowned institutions like the International Renewable Energy Agency and the Fraunhofer Institute.

As the forum unfolds, participants will delve into the challenges, advancements, and investment prospects in the green hydrogen sector. The event’s focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing sets the stage for potential partnerships and initiatives that can accelerate the global adoption of green hydrogen. With the spotlight on Bariloche, Argentina has an opportunity to position itself as a leader in green hydrogen technology and contribute to a more sustainable and decarbonized future.
