Lhyfe has unveiled plans to develop a 70 MW green hydrogen plant in Perl, Saarland, Germany. This ambitious project aims to deliver up to 30 tons of green hydrogen per day into the mosaHYc hydrogen island network, facilitating the decarbonization of Saarland’s industrial sector and the entire Grande Région.

With construction scheduled to start in the first half of 2027, Lhyfe and its partners are taking a significant step towards a sustainable and future-ready hydrogen infrastructure.

The planned green hydrogen plant in Perl holds great potential for the transformation and long-term viability of Saarland’s industrial landscape. By harnessing electrolysis technologies and optimizing renewable energy integration through smart software, Lhyfe aims to provide cost-competitive green hydrogen to meet the needs of various industrial consumers in Saarland. This development aligns with the region’s commitment to rapidly expand its hydrogen infrastructure based on renewable energy sources.

To enable efficient hydrogen distribution, existing pipelines around Völkingen, Carling, Bouzonville, and Perl are being assessed for their suitability as hydrogen pipelines. Additionally, the project involves the construction of new pipelines from Bouzonville towards Dillingen, facilitating the transport of green hydrogen to industrial consumers along the mosaHYc pipeline. This infrastructure development is a crucial enabler for the widespread adoption of green hydrogen and the decarbonization of the transport and mobility sector.

The development of the Lhyfe plant and the mosaHYc pipeline has far-reaching implications for Saarland’s economic growth and job creation. By embracing hydrogen as a clean energy source, the region lays the foundation for a new economic sector, attracting investments and driving innovation. This not only strengthens the local industrial landscape but also paves the way for direct benefits to citizens, such as the use of hydrogen in public transport and energy supply, further enhancing the region’s sustainability and quality of life.
