Goyang City has joined hands with SK E&S, a frontrunner in eco-friendly hydrogen energy technology. The collaborative effort entails the creation of an eco-friendly hydrogen transportation city, poised to reshape the landscape of sustainable mobility.

The strategic partnership between Goyang City and SK E&S is underpinned by a resolute commitment to bolster sustainable urban transportation. Their collective goal revolves around amplifying eco-friendly public transportation options while fostering the growth of the hydrogen energy business. This visionary alliance is poised to act as a catalyst for change, steering the city towards a greener, more sustainable future.

One of the central tenets of this initiative is harnessing the potential of hydrogen. Goyang City envisions a reduction in air pollution and carbon emissions, aligning seamlessly with its aspiration of transforming into a “fine dust-free” municipality. This vision finds resonance with the city’s selection for a private capital subsidy project by the Ministry of Environment through the Korea Automobile Environment Association.

Goyang City’s commitment to a hydrogen-powered future is vividly evident through its tangible initiatives. An investment totaling KRW 11 billion is earmarked to materialize its vision. The plan encompasses the installation of a hydrogen charging station within a public bus garage located in Daehwa, Seo-gu, Ilsan, set to be operational by the culmination of 2024. This pivotal infrastructure project aligns with the city’s ethos of creating a convenient and conducive environment for its citizens to embrace hydrogen-powered vehicles.

The underlying motivation behind this venture is to address pressing environmental concerns by ameliorating the transportation sector’s contribution to fine dust and carbon emissions. The expansion of hydrogen vehicles within the public transportation domain stands out as a pragmatic and tangible solution. A representative from Goyang City expressed, “Our aim is to not only reduce the impact of transportation on our environment but to also leave behind a healthier legacy for future generations.”

At the heart of this collaborative effort stands SK E&S, a global powerhouse renowned for its trailblazing strides in eco-friendly hydrogen energy technology. The company’s commitment to innovation aligns seamlessly with Goyang City’s aspirations. As partners, they envisage the supply and expansion of hydrogen vehicles through the expansion of hydrogen charging infrastructure.

The Goyang and SK E&S collaboration signifies more than just a partnership; it embodies a shared commitment to effecting positive change. As the two entities work in synergy, they pave the way for a future where urban transportation transcends its conventional limitations. By leveraging the power of hydrogen and embracing sustainable mobility, Goyang City takes a formidable leap towards a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous future for its citizens.
