Air Liquide and Trillium Energy Solutions have joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to spearhead the development of the heavy-duty hydrogen fueling market in the United States.

Air Liquide, a global leader in low-carbon and renewable hydrogen production, supply, and technologies, is set to collaborate with Trillium Energy Solutions, a member of the Love’s Family of Companies and a prominent sustainable fueling infrastructure provider in the U.S. Their shared objective is to establish a robust hydrogen refueling infrastructure and fuel supply network, which is fundamental to enable the widespread adoption of heavy-duty hydrogen-powered trucks.

This partnership represents a holistic approach to the heavy-duty hydrogen transportation ecosystem, addressing both hydrogen supply and refueling infrastructure. Air Liquide’s extensive experience and leadership in the hydrogen value chain will be complemented by Trillium’s proficiency in operating and managing alternative fueling stations, along with its expansive nationwide infrastructure footprint.

One of the primary initiatives of this collaboration is the deployment of an extensive hydrogen retail network. This ambitious plan will commence with the initial installation of hydrogen stations strategically positioned along a critical trucking route. The ultimate goal is to facilitate Truck Original Equipment Manufacturers’ (OEM) efforts to expedite the deployment of hydrogen-fueled vehicles and assist fleet operators in transitioning to low-carbon and zero-emission transportation solutions.

The partnership aims to support the development of an impressive 150 tons per day of hydrogen production capacity. This will be complemented by the establishment of a robust refueling infrastructure capable of supplying over 2,000 heavy-duty vehicles. Such a significant capacity will play a pivotal role in ensuring the viability and scalability of hydrogen-powered transportation.

hrough this partnership, Trillium and Air Liquide aim to accelerate the development of hydrogen infrastructure across the United States, making a significant stride towards a more sustainable transportation future.
