The recently concluded COP28 climate summit marked a watershed moment in global efforts to combat climate change.

As nations gathered to address the urgent need for transitioning away from fossil fuels, a series of announcements emerged, highlighting a commitment to green hydrogen development. Among the initiatives gaining prominence are flagship projects designed to accelerate hydrogen commercialization and uphold the crucial 1.5-degree target.

One standout initiative is the Intergovernmental Declaration of Intent on Mutual Recognition of Certification Schemes for Hydrogen and Hydrogen Derivatives. Encompassing over 80% of the future global market, this declaration aims to establish standardized certification schemes, fostering trust and collaboration on a global scale. Additionally, a public-private action statement on cross-border trade corridors, in partnership with the International Hydrogen Trade Forum, seeks to streamline international hydrogen trade.

World Hydrogen MENA Congress: Shaping the Post-COP28 Landscape

With COP28 behind us, attention now turns to actionable steps in the hydrogen sector. The upcoming World Hydrogen MENA Congress, scheduled for February 26 – 29, 2024, in Dubai, emerges as a pivotal platform for driving net-zero strategies in the MENA region and beyond.

Produced in collaboration with Dii Desert Energy and the MENA Hydrogen Alliance, the congress boasts a comprehensive agenda featuring 100+ speakers across five content streams. Participants will delve into the latest developments, challenges, and opportunities in hydrogen, post-COP28. Key discussion points include compiling net-zero strategies, securing finance and investment, generating local demand, scaling up projects for export, and addressing hydrogen storage and distribution strategies.

The congress features an impressive lineup of speakers from various sectors, bringing diverse perspectives to the table. Key figures include Abdulaziz Al Shidhani of Hydrom, Allan Baker of Société Générale, Firas Al Abduwani from the Ministry of Energy & Minerals in Oman, and Frank Wouters, Chair of Advisory Board at Dii Desert Energy, among others.

As the longest-standing hydrogen congress in the region, World Hydrogen MENA aims to accelerate hydrogen project deployment and policy, fostering connections among international and local stakeholders.

To be part of this transformative event, individuals can book their passes before December 22 to benefit from early bird rates, saving up to $1,000. The congress encourages team participation with a 3-for-2 offer, covering all five content streams.

As the world navigates the path towards a sustainable future, events like World Hydrogen MENA serve as crucial catalysts for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and actionable strategies in the hydrogen domain.
