Nikola Corporation has inaugurated Alberta’s inaugural hydrogen refuelling station in Canada, a significant step towards fostering sustainable transportation infrastructure in the region.
Situated along Highway 2 in Leduc County, the station boasts a 700-bar pressure HYLA modular fueller, catering to the refuelling needs of longer-range trucks, buses, and cars.
Aligned with the 5,000 Hydrogen Vehicle Challenge, the station aims to facilitate the adoption of hydrogen-powered or dual fuel hydrogen vehicles across western Canada by 2028. By establishing a robust refuelling network, Nikola aims to support the growth of hydrogen demand and promote the transition to cleaner transportation alternatives.
The station utilizes advanced HYLA modular fuelling technology to compress hydrogen into smaller volumes, enabling efficient refuelling of vehicles with onboard storage. This technology ensures the seamless integration of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) into the Canadian market, offering a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
