The tender, published on July 29, 2024, sets a submission deadline of September 11, 2024. This initiative is supported by the European Union’s Next Generation EU fund and aligns with the ongoing efforts to advance hydrogen technologies in Spain.

The tender’s primary goal is to procure comprehensive supplies and materials, as well as engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning of a high-temperature electrolysis system utilizing solid oxide cells. This system will be instrumental in producing hydrogen and generating electricity, marking a significant step toward adopting green hydrogen solutions.

High-temperature electrolysis, mainly through solid oxide cells, enables efficient conversion of water into hydrogen and oxygen by using electricity and heat. This process is critical as it promises higher efficiencies than conventional low-temperature electrolysis. The successful implementation of such a system could lead to more cost-effective and energy-efficient hydrogen production methods, fostering further growth in the hydrogen sector.

The tender outlines specific requirements, calling for detailed proposals that include supplying necessary equipment and materials, robust engineering design, precise manufacturing processes, meticulous assembly, and thorough system commissioning. Companies interested in participating must demonstrate their capability to deliver high-quality components and expertise in solid oxide cell technology.

Additionally, the technical specifications emphasize the need for durability, efficiency, and scalability of the electrolysis system, ensuring it can meet both current and future demands for hydrogen production and electricity generation.

This tender seeks to solidify Spain’s position at the forefront of hydrogen innovation by facilitating the development of advanced high-temperature electrolysis systems. The project’s successful execution is anticipated to have substantial implications for reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy sources.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit their proposals by the September 11 deadline to contribute to this pivotal development in Spain’s renewable energy landscape.
