ACS Industries has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Technologies Office for award negotiation of a substantial $9.9 million grant.

The grant aims to facilitate the industrialization of novel manufacturing methods for the production of key PEM electrolyzer components. This initiative is crucial in driving down costs and enhancing electrolyzer performance in alignment with the Department of Energy’s ambitious 2031 “Hydrogen Shot” goals. To bring this project to fruition, ACS will be working in close collaboration with esteemed partners including Plug Power, Inc., Tanury Industries, Inc., and the University of California, Irvine.

The impact of this project extends beyond technological advancement, as it promises substantial benefits to the community. These include the provision of paid internships for disadvantaged undergraduate students, the development of a certification program for the operation and maintenance of highly technical manufacturing equipment to groom the workforce of the future, and the establishment of a DAC-based factory that will initially create 60 clean energy jobs.

ACS Industries expresses its gratitude to the U.S. Department of Energy, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, for its unwavering support in fostering a robust and resilient hydrogen supply chain in the United States while simultaneously creating impactful clean energy jobs. The project spearheaded by ACS is poised to make significant strides in the quest to lower the cost of green hydrogen, paving the way for the widespread viability of the hydrogen economy. Additionally, the program will contribute tochat.completion
