ACWA Power, the world’s largest private water desalination company and a trailblazer in energy transition, has initiated the first phase of a groundbreaking 3,000-tonne-per-year green hydrogen project in Uzbekistan.

The inauguration ceremony, graced by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, and Khalid Al Falih, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, marks a significant leap in Uzbekistan’s energy revolution.

Mohammad Abunayyan, Founder and Chairman of ACWA Power, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in their capabilities, emphasizing the project’s role in Uzbekistan’s sustainable future. The venture unfolds in two phases, starting with a 3,000-tonne green ammonia pilot project, with the second phase incorporating 2.4 GW of wind energy to produce 500,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.

This project reinforces ACWA Power’s commitment to sustainable development, job creation, and environmental stewardship, showcasing the convergence of vision and determination. With Uzbekistan being ACWA Power’s second-largest market for investments, this venture underscores the company’s dedication, adding to its impressive portfolio of 12 projects, 11 of which are fully renewable.
