ACWA Power, a leading Saudi Arabian energy company, has announced plans to build a green hydrogen plant in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of 3,000 tons per year.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and ACWA Power’s Chairman, Mohammad Abunayyan. Construction is scheduled to begin in autumn of this year, signaling Uzbekistan’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development.
The project aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce carbon emissions. The country aims to significantly increase its renewable energy capacity, including the construction of a combined-cycle power plant, wind power plants, and solar power stations with a total capacity exceeding 5.5 GW.
