ACWA Power has announced that the first phase of its green hydrogen project in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone will be completed by late 2028. Hassan Amin, CEO of ACWA Power Egypt, shared this update, mentioning that the first phase will wrap up in the fourth quarter of 2028.

The Total Investment

Developed under a 2023 agreement, this project involves an investment of over 4 billion dollars. The initiative aims to produce 600,000 tons of green ammonia annually. After expansion, the production is expected to increase to 2 million tons per year.

Source of Renewable Energy

Amin explained that the plant will source its renewable energy from the East Nile feeding stations in Minya, Upper Egypt. This integration of renewable energy sources is crucial for the project’s sustainability.
