Heerema’s Heavy Lift Vessel Aegir has experienced a dropfall incident during jacket installation for the Changhua offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
The incident took place on June 15, at 16.42 local time, Heerema informed.
According to the company, the piling frame and pin pile have only suffered minimal damage, while there were no injuries nor the environmental impact.
Work had just started on this project, and currently, foundation installation has been temporarily paused pending investigation.
Aegir is in charge of installing 21 jacket foundations for the 109.2 MW Changhua project.
The exact cause of the incident is yet unknown and will be the subject of a thorough investigation.
