Air Liquide has initiated the construction of a cutting-edge hydrogen filling center in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin.
This development stems from a strategic agreement signed with the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone. The firm has allocated a substantial investment of RMB 145 million for the establishment, ownership, and operation of this facility. The primary aim of this new infrastructure is to bolster the hydrogen ecosystem within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jingjinji) Region.
The essence of a hydrogen filling center lies in its capacity to compress gaseous hydrogen received through pipelines for subsequent transportation via tube trailer trucks to hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) or industrial clients. Air Liquide’s upcoming center is anticipated to have an impressive filling capacity of 8 tonnes per day and is slated to commence operations by the conclusion of 2024.
Air Liquide China has already secured a strong foothold in the Jingjinji area by managing two existing hydrogen filling centers with a cumulative capacity of 4.2 tonnes per day. These facilities cater to a diverse clientele encompassing industries such as glass manufacturing, optical fiber production, metallurgy, and electronics. The upcoming center will leverage hydrogen with a low carbon footprint to provide compressed hydrogen to both HRS in the region and industrial consumers.
The venture aligns seamlessly with ADVANCE, Air Liquide’s Strategic Plan, which underlines the company’s commitment to diminishing carbon emissions from its assets while furnishing customers with solutions to curtail their carbon footprint.
