Alfa Laval, a Swedish provider of industrial solutions, has been given a contract to provide small heat exchangers for the world’s biggest green hydrogen plant now being built in Saudi Arabia.
The facility, which will create 650 tonnes per day of green hydrogen after it begins operations in 2026, is being developed by a joint venture between ACWA Power, NEOM, and Air Products.
The manufacturer claimed that by cooling off the extra heat produced as purified water is divided into hydrogen and oxygen gases, their energy-efficient plate heat exchangers will assist maintain a constant temperature in the electrolyzer to maximize efficiency.
According to Thomas Muller, President of Alfa Laval’s Energy Division, “Our business in hydrogen has evolved well over the last years, and we are now offering effective heat exchangers to the various steps of the process; for production, delivery, and usage.”
According to the statement, the company is a top provider of heat exchangers to many of the major electrolyzer manufacturers.
