OXCCU, an innovative spin-off from Oxford University, has announced the creation of the world’s first hydrogen-to-synthetic aviation-fuel demonstration plant.

Founded with backing from energy giant Aramco, the start-up reveals that its technology can efficiently and directly convert hydrogen (H2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) into hydrocarbons in a single, streamlined step.

The core of OXCCU’s breakthrough lies in its ability to carry out this conversion process in one go, which they tout as a “radically cost-effective solution.” This development holds the potential to revolutionize the aviation fuel industry, making sustainable fuel production significantly more viable and economical. According to OXCCU’s CEO, Andrew Symes, this innovation marks a significant step toward reducing the carbon footprint of aviation.
